Since 2019 I have been on a journey to write one haiku every day. For the most part, I’ve kept to that practice. By now I’m up to over 1,800 poems. Not all of them are good. That’s not the point. Here is a sampling of some of the recent published haiku that come from this practice:

purple iris tongues
I wean myself
from the baby

Acorn No. 53, Fall 2024

rain patter
a sugar cube
in the doll’s tea

Prune Juice 43, August 2024

moonless night
moth eggs hatching
in my wool

Frogpond 47:2, Spring/Summer 2024

winter solstice
she names her new doll
Wisteria

The Heron’s Nest, March 2024

peony petals…
one by one returning
all his borrowed books

last night’s spat
coming up
toadstools

Kingfisher #10, October 2024

Lisa, your haiku are totally extraordinary! Thank you so much for sharing some of them on your website! (Mary turned me on to it). When will you have a Red Moon book?
